The Society for the History of Collecting is delighted to invite you to its forthcoming Tour of the new Gilbert Galleries at the V&A led by senior curator Alice Minter
on Wednesday 22 April 2026 at 10.00am (BST)
The society is delighted to offer a special tour of the magnificent Gilbert Collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum in its newly refurbished and extended galleries. Formed by Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert, this outstanding collection of micromosaics, gold boxes and other exquisite items in a range of precious materials was gifted to the British nation by Arthur Gilbert in 1996. Senior curator Alice Minter has kindly agreed, together with a colleague, to show us highlights from the collection and explain the concept behind the new display. The tour is limited to 25 participants. Tickets are £15 for members, £25 for non-members.
Registration will close on 17 April.
The meeting point for the tour will be at the entrance of the Gilbert Galleries in Gallery 70. Please go via the Exhibition Road entrance and up the Ceramic Staircase.
