The Americas Chapter (in collaboration with TIAMSA)
is delighted to invite you to a curatorial tour with Lynn Gumpert of
Americans in Paris: Artists Working in Postwar France, 1946-1962
at the newly-reopened Grey Art Museum, New York University
France has always loomed large in the American artistic imagination. The inaugural exhibition of the Grey Art Museum's new location at 18 Cooper Square focuses on a diverse group of artists working in Paris in the postwar period that is more usually associated with the rise to prominence of the New York School.
Lynn Gumpert has been the Director of the Grey Art Museum since 1997, during which she has overseen more than seventy exhibitions. In addition to co-editing with Debra Bricker-Balken, Americans in Paris: (Hirmer, 2022), Lynn recently edited Pow! Right in the Eye: Thirty Years Behind the Scenes of Modern French Painting (trans. William Rodarmor), the memoir of gallerist Berthe Weill.
SPACE IS LIMITED:
Priority will be given to members. Registration closes April 15, 2024.
