The Society for the History of Collecting is pleased to invite you to an evening tour of Strawberry Hill House & Garden exhibition 

Treasures from Faraway: Medieval and Renaissance Objects from The Schroder Collection (19 March - 19 July 2023)

on 7 June 2023 at 6pm (BST) 

An exhibition of ten objects reveals the often-overlooked relationship between Europe’s explorers and traders with artisans and craftsmen to create Cabinets of Curiosities or Kunst- and Wunderkammer collections. This ‘In-Focus’ display shines a spotlight on how diverse natural materials, from coconuts to rock crystal, along with trade networks with Asia and the Far East created new opportunities for European craftspeople to make objects of wonder for their patrons.  

The tour of the exhibition will be led by the students of the MA in the Art Market and the History of Collecting and the MA in Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors of the University of Buckingham who have written the exhibition catalogue.
